THE HISTORY

San Clemente Island Feral Goats (SCIFG) are a unique breed of goat thought to be descendants of goats brought to the island by merchant vessels sailing the Pacific as early as the 17th Century although no one knows for sure.

They flourished on the island as feral goats until the 1980's when many were exterminated. Fortunately, an animal rescue group, Fund For Animals, stepped in to rescue these magnificent creatures.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!

The 50-count herd is expensive to care for here on the ranch. We appreciate donations of time, money, and veterinary services to keep our goats safe and healthy. Our immediate needs include funding for feed and veterinary expenses (fecal testing as required, annual shots, hoof trims, ID microchipping, etc.)  Credits on Broadway Ranch account may be phoned into Gerber Feed at 503-631-2686, and placed on our books. We also need volunteers to work on the ranch with fencing and carpentry projects by appointment only. Homes interested in fostering goats should be well-fenced and have secure shelter from the elements. A site visit to your location is the first step.  Fostering a goat of your choice here on the ranch would be something to also discuss in person on your visit. Walking goats is a fun activity for volunteers as well. We accept financial donations via Venmo and Cash App. To donate, please contact Karen directly by text at 971-335-1383. Occasionally, we host fundraisers so please check our Facebook page for event information.
